University of Death: I read the whole damn thing

160 words

Remember University of Death?

When January came and nobody had given it to me as a Christmas present, I went ahead and bought it from Lulu.com, and I got to work late, reading the last two chapters in bed, then the ‘deleted scenes’ on the loo.
I’m still ill-placed to review it, being friends with Sean. However, I really enjoyed it. It’s easy to read, funny, thought provoking, and contains realistic and well fleshed out characters. It presses my buttons of course, since it concerns both music and computer technology.

If I was pedantic (God forbid!), I’d pick a couple of holes in the techie bits, but I suspect simplification was required to maintain the flow of the prose.

If you’re in the market for a novel, and you’re choosing between this and Marina Lewycka’s  A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian, I suggest you go for Sean’s book.  I’m probably not even going to finish that tractor book. Do you want it?
