Sean’s book, ‘University of Death’

183 words, 1 image

My friend Sean McManus has announced his self-published first novel, University of Death. This is me doing my bit to help publicise it.

University of Death

I have only read the two preview chapters, as you can too if you click through the links, and anyway, I doubt I could detach myself from my friendship with the author, enough to provide a truly objective opinion. However I enjoyed what I read, was left wanting more, and I can say with some confidence that if someone were to sneak a copy into a real bookshop, and you were to browse those sample chapters there, you would not suss it as the obvious work of an amateur. I’ve read very commercially successful novels with a less accomplished style (I’m looking at you, Tom Holt). Sean is not an amateur writer, after-all — he’s an experienced journalist and non-fiction writer.

University of Death is a satire on the music industry. No doubt it’s informed by Sean’s days as a music journalist.

As Sean points out, if you order soon, you should get it by Christmas (printed on-demand and shipped from America).
