Sean and Karen wedding
173 words, 1 imageThis weekend, we went South to attend Sean and Karen’s wedding.
Church services are a bit alien to me (what little organised religion I was subjected to as a child, was generally in a nonconformist chapel), so there’s always a lot to take in. The church in Ickenham is a lovely old building. I was more or less able to pick up the tunes of the hymns in order to make a decent hash of the second verse. The order of service sheet was folded in a peculiar way, and so I missed some of the “amens” and the “and so do we” responses (or whatever it was).
No matter. There were proper churchgoers present who were able to sing and respond loudly and clearly enough to make up for the rest of us.
The reception, at a hotel in Ascot, was smashing, with a number of cute touches — table names drawn from Animal Crossing, and a Smurf bride and groom atop the cake. It was nice to see some old and new faces.
