Orikaso at Glastonbury
208 words, 1 image Ajay and Iciar sent me a sample Spanish edition Orikaso set, on behalf of orikaso.es. The idea was, that I tried it out at Glastonbury.
This was a double-edged sword. Normally I don’t take any food or drink preparing equipment, so it meant extra bulk in the rucksack. It meant I had to buy a one man camping cooking pot, but it also meant I got to try out the solid fuel stove I’ve had lying around for years.
The Orikaso pack is completely flat, and essentially takes no space whatsoever in the rucksack. Terrific stuff.
The first morning, I had a go at boiling some water for coffee, and to my surprise, it boiled very quickly using only half a fuel tablet. The cup did it’s job fine, but I found I couldn’t be bothered with the stove on subsequent mornings.
However, I had impulse-bought some crunchy oat cereal and taken it with me. I found that the Orikaso bowl was perfect for pouring cereal into, for consuming dry. By omitting to assemble one corner, it became a tapered chute, so I could tip some into my mouth. Breakfast every morning was that and a pepperami, before strolling to the markets for real food.
I’ll take them again next time.
