A brown Glastonbury
170 words, 1 imageIt was some time on Saturday afternoon when I finally conceded that 2007 was a muddy Glastonbury. By then it was mostly ankle deep and getting claggy - walking was becoming a serious effort.
Yet, I had seen Bjork, Arcade Fire, Nizlopi, The Beat, Super Furry Animals, some astonishing circus acts, and soaked in a load of Glastonbury atmosphere by then.
The new Park Stage is a lovely setting, and the new Trash City area is a lot of fun. Both would obviously have been improved by better weather.
On the whole, I had a great time - things only turned a bit grim on Sunday evening, when we returned to the campsite soaking wet, failed to dry out before going to bed, then packed up our tents in torrential rain and trudged — wet and weighed down — to the car. At least we escaped the car park quickly, unlike some.
Thanks to Tom for driving, Tim and co.’s advance party for staking out the campsite, and to the Eavises for having us.
