Not voting

59 words

I quite enjoy voting.

But yesterday, I realised that I had no idea who to vote for. Admittedly I have been out of the country, but I had been back a week, and no canvassers had visited me, and nobody had put any leaflets through my door.

So I didn’t vote. How could I. Studiers of statistics will call me apathetic.

I think it’s a good idea to spoil your ballot paper if you really don’t want to express a vote - that’s the closest you can do to voting ‘none of the above’ and it’s easy to tell apart from those who really were apathetic and couldn’t be bothered. At first I thought it was a big triumph when they said on the news that thousands of ballot papers were spoiled in Scotland, but it turned out to be machine error not a massive uprising.
