Weekend Films: Crank; Hot Fuzz
164 words, 1 imageWe watched two films this weekend.
Crank is High Concept: hitman Jason Statham has been poisoned, and the only way he can stay alive long enough to exact revenge is to keep his adrenaline level up by whatever means necessary.
It’s ridiculous — it’s as if the script was written by a load of drunks, and every time one of them makes a crazy suggestion, they all go “That’s a BRILLIANT IDEA MATE! Put it in!”
Good fun though, and short enough not to outstay it’s welcome.
We went to the cinema to watch Hot Fuzz. Simon Pegg’s getting on a bit. Because he plays a super-alert police officer (as the vocabulary guidelines insist we call policemen), there are lots of close-ups of his eyes. The crow’s feet made me feel old too. Sorry Simon.
There’s not much to say. If you didn’t like Spaced, you probably won’t like this. If you did like Spaced, you’ll love this. I loved Spaced, so I was delighted by the whole thing.
