A weekend

339 words

I wrote a long and extremely dull entry about my bank holiday weekend. Then I deleted it to replace with a bullet list.

  • Friday curry at Kismet with Debbie, Steve, Gary, MC. Then Big Brother, then tipsy phone call to handle work emergency with Americans less drunk and 5 hours less tired than me.
  • Saturday, Debbie disappears for examiners’ meeting followed by Suzanne’s hen night.
  • Saturday, I get the train down to Ickenham for a party at Sean and Karen’s
  • Party fun. Much Guitar Hero and Buzz (general knowledge AND music) and chat.
  • Sunday, spend morning with Sean and Karen.
  • Sunday, train home. Discover that with 120 film you only get 8 shots at 6×9cm
  • Sunday, shoot a roll of black and white 120 film out of the window, and develop it. Exciting: I’ve not developed a roll of film since I was about 14, and never before using my own equipment.
  • Sunday, join Paul, Simon, Gary for a pub quiz at the Bowling Green. Quiz never materialises, but good fun anyway. Return home and watch Big Brother on TiVo. At 3am, am woken by the TV, to find that I must have fallen asleep on the sofa (I assume this is TiVo reaching the end of the show, stopping on a silent dialogue box, which subsequently timed out and returned to live TV, jolting me awake). Relocate to bed.
  • Monday, generally tidy house, then mess it up again by printing photos from the film I developed yesterday. Results were adequate, for a test roll.
  • Debbie returns. She’s tired, but she looks nice.
  • Stroll into town under umbrellas to drop colour 120 roll for developing (it will take 10 days!), get some groceries, get a light snack and a coffee in Cafe Nero. They run out of milk shortly after serving my coffee.
  • Leave Debbie marking exams, to shoot another roll of B&W around South Leamington and take a few digital pictures as well. Some of them are rather nice.
  • Chicken stir fry, Doctor Who, Big Brother (truncated by TiVo, since Channel 4 extended it), Have I Got News For You.
  • Bed.
