Chasetown 1 - 3 Leamington
171 wordsWe don’t usually make the journey to weekday evening away games, but the first leg of the Polymac Cup semi final against Chasetown was a big deal.
Chasetown ran rings around us in the first half, and got a neat goal to show for it, 17 minutes in. At half time, things were not cheerful.
Leamington returned for the second half looking like a new team. They played with real urgency, and Leon Morgan equalised from a corner in the 48th minute as a result.
Just six minutes later, Josh Blake scored our second. I saw Chasetown manager Charlie Blakemore (you know, off the telly) cast his hat to the ground like Yosemite Sam.
Around 75 minutes in, Jon Adams beat all the Chasetown defenders. Faced with an almost certain goal, Chasetown’s keeper pulled him to the ground, and was sent off. Adams scored from the penalty (or from a rebound: depends who you ask).
This is most satisfactory, and means Chasetown have an awful lot to do when they visit us next Tuesday.
