Migrating from Fotopic to Flickr

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

I’ve adapted a Perl script for uploading to Flickr, to migrate pictures from Fotopic.net to Flickr.
If you’re interested in the script, there’s more about it here.
But the main thing is, there will be a lot of oldish pictures showing up in my Flickr pages in the near future.
Update! Look at all my sets!

Where babies come from

Monday, November 28th, 2005

I followed a link from the B3TA newsletter:
>> How Germans have babies <<
An illustrated sex education book aimed at
children; see how the beardy German man and
pigtailed German lady get it on. Especially
likes the cheerful labour scene. But why is the
doctor carrying a [...]

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Monday, November 28th, 2005

We went to see the new Harry Potter film last night.
Since today is a day of lazy reviews, I will say only this:
It was very good. Much better than I’d expected, in fact. I quite fancied the Miranda Richardson character, who is not mentioned in any of the other reviews I’ve seen.

Recognition for the Leamington Changelog

Sunday, November 27th, 2005

Hooray!
“Let’s face it, logging changes in a small provincial town is a tedious job, and yet there is something very dignified about the manner in which the site accomplishes its chosen task.”
Thanks Tom for letting me know about this.

Late licencing

Sunday, November 27th, 2005

Happy Friday went large on Friday, with eight of us convening for a smashing meal in one of the cosy alcoves at the Thai Elephant. With that done, we set about finding out how it felt to be allowed to be in pubs slightly later than last week.
Since we were up that end of [...]

Leamington 4 - 1 Rocester

Saturday, November 26th, 2005

2-0 up at half time, there wasn’t much worrying going on when Leamington let one in early in the second half. However with 10 minutes to go and still no third goal, there was some muttering from spectators about having to play better than this when eventually we manage to play Biddulph. That third [...]

Nizlopi again

Thursday, November 24th, 2005

Remember when I told you about Nizlopi, a band from Leamington? And then, a bit later, when I did it again?
Well, you’ll listen to me in future won’t you? Seven months later, and they’re “9/2 favourites” (”just behind Westlife”: parse error!) for the Christmas no. 1 single at William Hill according [...]

Old Boy

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

Erk!
A Korean man is abducted off the street and imprisoned by person or persons unknown, with only a TV and a hunger for revenge to keep him company. The TV tells him that his wife has been murdered, and he is the suspect — but the authorities cannot find him.
After 15 years, he [...]

Patron of the arts

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

At last year’s Leamington Christmas market, I was impressed by the prints being sold by local artist James Vinciguerra. He draws buildings and landscapes in an interesting Hockney-esque way, colours and edits the drawings digitally, and produces prints of the results. Rather than buy one right away, we asked him whether any of the [...]

Stewart Lee, Warwick Arts Centre

Monday, November 21st, 2005

There seems to be a trend developing for comedians to come to go on major tours of the UK in order to share their catharsis of some personal issues with us.
When we saw Dave Gorman at Warwick Arts Centre, he was upset at himself for having driven himself mad with his crazy obsessive Googlewhack [...]
