Leamington 1 - 0 Studley

Sunday, September 18th, 2005

I know you don’t rely on me for your Brakes results, but while we were at the horses, they beat Studley in the FA Vase first qualifying round. Radcliffe Olympic, their opponents in the second qualifying round, have withdrawn from the competition, so first round proper on Oct 29th, here we come.

Television lies

Sunday, September 18th, 2005

On our 2000 Route 66 trip, we enjoyed the last few episodes of the first series of the American Survivor, watching genuine characters plotting against each other on an island in Borneo.
When we learned that this “Fall”’s 11th series of Survivor would be contested among Mayan ruins in Northern Guatemala — where we went [...]

Hossies

Sunday, September 18th, 2005

Yesterday, we joined Paul, Anton (sp?), Gary and MC for a day at Warwick races.
The weather was kind, our losses were tolerable, they sold beer and burgers, and a good time was had by all.
Afterwards we were disappointed to find that the Fourpenny Shop’s chef was on holiday, and traipsed to several restaurants which [...]

Decemberists Tour details imminent

Thursday, September 15th, 2005

Recent favourites The Decemberists just sent me an email telling me about some gigs I can’t get to because they’re on another continent — but also hinting that they’ll be in the UK and Europe in November, to coincide with the European release of Picaresque. Hooray!
Being keen, I bought Picaresque on import months ago. [...]

Leamington 3 - 1 Causeway

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

We went glory hunting along with Steve and Keith from work, to watch Leamington win again.
What the Braking News match report doesn’t mention is the constant interruptions to play from frivolous free kick decisions.
Also, Oadby beat Oldbury in their FA Cup replay last night, meaning we meet them for the next round.

iPod Nano

all i want for christmas is…… - (Flickr user JJ*).

Damn them. Damn them.
You know how I feel about the iPod — I use it every day, but wish they’d fix some of those niggling user interface issues.
The iPod Nano is a very small object of great desire though. Look how small it is! It [...]

Singstar 80s

Monday, September 12th, 2005

I’m not sure about themed Singstars, however much I’d love to see indie Singstar, because part of the genius of Singstar was that each disk had something for everyone.
But Singstar 80s appears to have some crackers on it. “The final countdown”, “I want to know what love is”, “Poison”, “It’s Tricky”, “Rio”.
I wish I [...]

FA Cup next round

Monday, September 12th, 2005

Today’s draw tells us that Leamington’s next FA Cup appearance will be at home, against Oadby or Oldbury, who drew 3-3 at the weekend, and replay tomorrow.
This will be the second qualifying round, for a prize of £3,750, and will be played on Sept 24th.
According to Braking News:
Leamington have already played both of these [...]

ID cards

Monday, September 12th, 2005

With home office minister Andy Burnham starting a 7 day “charm offensive” today, to promote national ID cards, according to the BBC, it seems like a good time to link to the naysayers:

Liberty
Stand
No2ID
… and a singing dog
