Lads’ night out

232 words

To celebrate the very special occasion of Faye letting Nigel off the leash, I joined Tom, Nigel, their partner-in-crime from Whitley Bay days Neil, Tom A and Ian for a boys only Saturday night out in Leamington.

From Tom’s house, we walked to the Star and Garter, balked at the queue for Voodoo, then Satchwell’s, saw the queue for Rio’s, balked at that, went up to Sugar, were turned away for being a group of 6 males.

Now, Breeze is closed for a refurbishment, and this left only one more option. Club Silx; the nightclub formerly known as Options. I had been to Options and it was not pleasant — we all bought souvenir lighters from the machine in the loos so that we would have proof we’d been and would never have to go again. Debbie has been to Silx without me and did not bring back a promising report.

We went to The Jug to mull things over.

When the Jug shut, we threw caution to the wind, and went for it. Suddenly cautious again, Tom bade me to go ahead, and text him with further instructions.

It turned out to be OK. The music was acceptable, it was crowded (presumably with people in the same boat as us) and they had a bar. It could be interesting to see whether the place keeps up the momentum when Breeze (or whatever its name becomes) reopens.
