Google Sitemaps Wordpress plugin

132 words

Fellow Wordpress users and Google trackers might be interested that I’ve just installed a Google Sitemap Generator plugin for both this blog and the new travelogue pages.

A sitemap is an XML document that tells Google (or anyone else that cares to look) what pages are on your site, and how often they are likely to change. This way, the indexing robots can check the bits you claim will change frequently, while not wasting their time and your server bandwidth re-checking unchanging content.

The Wordpress plugin regenerates a sitemap every time you post, and prods Google to tell them it’s changed. We’ll see how that effects searches or the aptness of Google ads on this site.

If you’re the kind of person who loves to read raw XML, these are the sitemaps: blog / travel
