BYE THEN! Gavin
229 wordsGavin left G-International yesterday. He took us for a drink at The Cape at lunchtime — a tradition carried over from IBM.
Gavin, Paul, Gary and I walked along the Canal, deviating for a quick one at Sarah Siddon’s on the Woodles, then another at the Lord Nelson on Emscote Road. I’m a big fan of the Lord Nelson’s nautical theme. You have to splice a mainbrace before they’ll serve you beer…
The Simple Simon and The Greyhound were shut, so we had quite a long dry period until we reached The Star and Garter. From there we went to The Woodland, where I was rather taken by the mural in their beer garden. I’d seen it before, but not by daylight.
We went on to the Old Butcher’s (nee Hogshead) via pub:The Slug and Lettuce, where lots more people turned up, and absolutely everyone had a hot beef sandwich. By the time we moved on to Voodoo, I was hiccoughing, so I started drinking Coke.
Gav insisted we go to Moo, so he could gaze for one last time upon his favourite barmaid, and then the hardcore among us went to Sugar to dance the night away. Debbie and I didn’t last long we got bored in the queue to get downstairs, and went home.
Gav is off to Kenya on a charity mission! Best of luck, Gav. BYE THEN!
