Coventry: Carnesky’s Ghost Train

This afternoon we took a trip to Coventry to see the touring Carnesky’s Ghost Train. To be perfectly honest, when we got in the queue and were handed a flier to read, I was worried that we were going to be treated to some hard core feminist diatribe, in the guise of entertainment.

In fact, the feminist diatribe was quite well hidden, so I didn’t mind one bit: and there were legs on show. I won’t give away too much in case the show tours where you can see it, dear reader (for example, at this year’s Glastonbury), but suffice to say that it was scary in a sort of inexplicable way, like Silent Hill.

Afterwards, we took a look in Coventry Cathedral, which I think has aged very well. We made a donation, then tried to work out whether we had just given money to the Catholic Church (richest corporation in the world), or to the CofE. Alas, our knowledge of conformist Christianity is so poor that we’re still not sure. We only saw one depiction of Mary, and the saints were mostly disciples, which implies not Catholic to me.
