Weekend
333 wordsFriday: We had Pizza Hut for dinner, because I was lured by their novelty “Four for All” pizza. Steve came too. We went on to the pub, but I wasn’t really in the mood — especially with no seats anywhere — so I left Steve and Debbie to it, went home and played Lego Star Wars for a bit, watched Derren Brown, went to bed. Debbie came in at 2:30am, surprisingly compos mentis.
Saturday: I finished Story Mode in Lego Star Wars. I feel as if I’ve seen Episode III already. The best bit is the painless Lego childbirth depicted at the end — with two loud “pops” the job is done.
We went for lunch at Zizzi’s and got a nice seat in the window where we could watch the world go by. In the evening I made a wicked spicy chilli (three fresh Scotch Bonnets — bingo!), which we ate. Then we watched four episodes of 24 (season 3), in which I was struck by baddie Ramon Salazar’s strong resemblance to Alan Titchmarsh.
Sunday: We had an industrious morning. I gave the conservatory ivy a thorough pruning, swept and mopped the floor. We took the ivy prunings to the tip, along with glass, cardboard and paper for recycling.
Laura came to visit in the evening, expecting to share a takeaway with us. Instead we presented leftovers in such a way as to make it look impressive: I knocked together some guacamole and boiled some rice. With yesterday’s leftover chilli, some bought tortillas and some soured cream, it was like a proper meal. Starting off with a jug of margharita probably helped too.
We persuaded her to “reambermate” her blog. Let’s see how that goes.
Eventually I drove Laura away by playing Richard Cheese songs to her. She left singing “So Long Farewell” from “The Sound of Music”.
We watched another episode of 24. It was bedtime, but for some reason they programme makers had left things at some kind of cliffhanger, so we watched another episode before bed.
