England 2 - Azerbaijan 0

121 words

As we walked to The Townhouse in the pouring rain, all that I knew was the hole in my shoe was letting in water. That and that England fans were expecting to witness a ten-nil trouncing of Azerbaijan — after Poland stuffed them eight-nil.

We got there in time to rearrange the furniture. The brokenness of the sofa and the height of the screen’s position (the bottom raised since they went widescreen and put a quiz machine under it) made the experience less comfy than it should have been.

Of 200 shots on goal, 2 went in. Well done.

Meanwhile, Wales lost to Austria.

Since their World Cup dream is over, Wales should throw their forthcoming match against England. Anything else would be dog-in-a-manger.

Throw the match!? Where’s your national pride man? England will get to the World Cup with or without 3 points at the Millenium Stadium on September 3rd, so go get ‘em that’s what I say. I don’t think we’ll actually beat England - I’d be happy with a damn good effort and a draw.

Wales were excellent last night, only Bellamy and Giggs’ insistence on missing clear cut chances lost us the match!

Don’t worry Chris, it was just an affectation based on not really understanding sport.

For example, in school games lessons, I always wondered why both teams couldn’t come to an agreement to play, say, 10% less hard, so everyone got an easier game…
