Singstar Popworld
429 wordsEurogamer announced the tracklist for Singstar Popworld.
Commentworthy ones (i.e. the ones I’ve heard of):
* Avril Lavigne - Sk8er Boi - Good news. Should have been on the first one instead of “Complicated”
* Beyonce - Crazy in Love - Great song.. not sure anyone will be capable of it though
* Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up - Is there a way to wipe this one off?
* Girls Aloud - Love Machine - Should be fantastic fun!
* Keane - Somewhere Only We Know - Dull, but therefore singable!
* Manfred Man - Do Wah Diddy - Ouch!
* McFly - Obviously- Again, should be fantastic fun
* Natasha Bedingfield - These Words - Maybe a bit difficult, but we’ll see
* Robbie Williams - Let Me Entertain You - Riotous fun, I’d imagine
* Ronan Keating & Ysuf Islam - Father and Son - We can sing “Yoshimi” over it
* Sister Sledge - We Are Family - People will choose this, then realise they don’t know the verse
* Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild - Oh yes!
* The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go? - Fun.
* The Hives - Main Offender - Top fun.
* Tom Jones - It’s Not Unusual - Top top fun.
* Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You - Will enjoy
* Marilyn Manson - Personal Jesus - A travesty of the glory of the
* Joss Stone - Super Duper Love (Are You Digging On Me?) - Might be OK without that oh-so-full Joss Stone voice
* Robbie Willams & Kylie Minogue - Kids - Great fun as a duet. Will they keep the line about sodomy?
* Erik B. and Rakim - Paid in Full - Should be great, depending on how they handle rapping
* Kylie Minogue - In Your Eyes - Not my idea of fun
* Blink-182 - What’s My Age Again - My idea of fun
* Outkast - Roses - Joint 2nd best Outkast song (i.e. “Hey Ya” is good, and all the rest of them are rubbish)

Hmmph.
A really, really poor selection. And “The way you move” is the best outkast song ever. Roses is way, way down there.

Phil, don’t judge them as songs to listen to: judge them as karaoke fodder, which is a completely different set of criteria.
“The Way You Move” is mostly rapping — unlikely to work, although we’ll see how they handle Erik B and Rakim…
This looks like a good selection to me: something for everyone, which is important when you drag out Singstar at a party.

I might have thought about it if it had Hey Ya on it. Roses is a godawful song (even to sing to). What’s My age has nothing on Miss you for karaoke Pow-ah. Crazy in love will be as damn near impossible as survivor. Other than Do wah diddy, born to be wild, Should I Stay or Should I Go, it’s not unusual and let me entertain you, there’s nothing that jumps out and shouts “PARTY!!” at me.
