Ickenham

Sunday, February 20th, 2005

We spent Saturday and Sunday in Ickenham, celebrating Sean and Karen’s housewarming, and Sean’s birthday.
We had a civilised amount of wine, some nice chats, some nice nibbles, and a game of Cranium incorporating CHEATING.

Comment spam

Friday, February 18th, 2005

I run the Spam Karma plugin for Wordpress, and it’s filtered out a LOT of comment spam, so it’s doing its job.
However, every now and again I get a hint that there’s been a false-positive, and people have been unable to comment.
Please, try the comment interface, and if it doesn’t work mail me to [...]

Following Ajay’s lead, I upgraded to Wordpress 1.5.

Mac OS X documentation

Tuesday, February 15th, 2005

If, like me, you’re curious about what’s happened to the Macintosh user interface in the last ten years, but not quite curious enough to spend £340 (the cost of a Mac Mini — at the moment second hand Macs don’t seem competitively priced against a new Mini) on the experience, here is a PDF [...]

155

Sunday, February 13th, 2005

I’m hoping that with this blockage removed, things are going to start moving a little faster.

Weekend films

Sunday, February 13th, 2005

On Friday we watched The Village. It was at once very silly and very straight-faced. The supposed twist was what we’d assumed all along. It was never explained why they communicated in such a stilted, old fashioned manner. I can’t say I rated it, which is a shame because the trailer had really got [...]

The biggest garden centre in Britain!

Sunday, February 13th, 2005

When I found out that the biggest garden centre in Britain was in Warwickshire — Dobbie’s in Atherstone — I had to go and see it. It’s big alright, but it’s in the wrong bit of Warwickshire: that bit that wraps itself around the North of Coventry, so it’s quite an expedition from Leamington.
We [...]

Bridge over the river Avon

Saturday, February 12th, 2005

Laura’s getting into “craft for Grrrls”. You know, subversive cross-stitch and the like, and to this end she invited us to accompany her to a craft fair in Bristol - in a little art’n’culture shop called “Here” - they sell comics and zines and jewellery and art and stuff. They’re very friendly, although some [...]

GXS/GI New Year Party

Friday, February 11th, 2005

I’m just back from the mean streets of Surrey and Berkshire, where we went to get trained in how to keep GXS from becoming the next WorldCom, and got to meet our new colleagues.
… over a free bar …
Stop shouting. Ouch.
