Idea: Consolidate Colour Order
168 wordsIt occurred to me last night that the order in which colours are used is not standardised. I think a start could be made by consolidating the colour orders in two important areas: martial arts belts, and snooker.
Hence, once my standard is adopted, trainees will start with a red belt, then progress through yellow, brown, green, blue, pink and finally black belt. This works nicely because the phrase “black belt” has entered the language, and will be unaffected by this change.
This could be an important boost to those who need that little boost to achieve black belt status, since until they do they will have to wear a pink belt. On the other hand, the truly macho may fail to progress from blue to pink.
One downside is that women’s martial arts may suffer, since the ladies won’t want to achieve black belt status, and lose their pretty pink belts.
If successful, the snooker standard could be applied to other sports, for example the colour of traps in greyhound racing.
