Firefox 1.0PR

177 words

I upgraded my Web browser from Firefox 0.9 to
Firefox 1.0 Preview
Release
today.

Mostly everything ticks along as nicely as it used to. Two changes I’ve
noticed, and liked are:

  • The address field changes from white to yellow when you’re on a secure
page — far more visible than the little padlock icon (which is still
    there).
  • CTRL+F / “Edit -> Find in this” page now opens an iterative search bar
at the bottom of the window, instead of the old non-iterative search
window. They call it “Fastfind”. It searches as you type, and the field
changes colour as soon as you add a letter meaning the string isn’t
    found.

I also got
Thunderbird 0.8,
Firefox’s news and email counterpart. This adds RSS support. I played with
this for a while, but it’s not mature enough just yet, so I’m sticking with
Bloglines for now.
