Home from Madrid

Thursday, August 26th, 2004

We flew home yesterday, having had a great time: but I need time to recover.

I started keeping a diary, but it petered out. Instead, here are pictures of
Ajay and Iciar’s wedding, Segovia and
everything else.

One More Pub

Sunday, August 15th, 2004

This afternoon we were meant to walk around the Northeast corner of Leamington
photographing pubs. We didn’t feel up to it. Instead, we went to Victoria Park
with Tracy, Chelsea and Ian. I did get one pub photographed: The Cricketers.
49 so far. Gotta catch ‘em all.

Later afternoon

Sunday, August 15th, 2004

I had some ASX. It worked so well that not only did I mop up the spilt wine,
but I did some ivy pruning too!

Mid afternoon

Sunday, August 15th, 2004

Just had a shower and got dressed. Feel 8% better.

Bad Influence Neighbours

Sunday, August 15th, 2004

We took a trip to The Keynes yesterday, primarily to buy clothes to wear
at Ajay’s wedding. I will be smart. Debbie will be beautiful.

Pub update

Friday, August 13th, 2004

I got off the bus from work early, and I took a long and winding walk home,
passing 16 pubs as varied in location and style as the White Horse and The
Joiners Arms. Total is up to 48.

Her name is Rio’s

Friday, August 13th, 2004

We were lured to Rio’s last night, and actually had a surprisingly good time.

Getting up proved difficult this morning. Already late, when I got to
the bus stop, I could see there was no bus on the horizon, so I walked to
the next stop for a photo of Kelsey’s. I gambled by crossing the road for
a [...]

More pubs

Thursday, August 12th, 2004

I bagged another four on the way home: Moorings and Tiller Pin by car, then
Sun in Splendour and Debonair on foot.

Evening Fresh Air

Wednesday, August 11th, 2004

Before dinner, we went for a stroll down the canal, then back along
various streets, bagging photos of another 11 pubs, making a total of 25 to date.

I, Robot, and A Project Begins

Wednesday, August 11th, 2004

We went to see “I, Robot” at the newly refurbished Apollo last night. I’d
been led to expect something quite bad, but I thought it was excellent:
never boring, good action, far more intelligent than a summer blockbuster
deserves to be. Certainly there were silly things (why is “decomissioning”
a robot such an elaborate procedure, when smashing their head [...]
