Home
With it being about 9 AM, a warm but slightly overcast British summer's day, we felt quite awake and alert as we pulled our bags out of Birmingham Airport and towards the taxi rank. Before long we were on familiar roads, feeling a little odd being driven on the left.
We got home to discover the house in pristine condition. Not only that, but all the plants were thriving (thanks Ajay) -- with one exception of a fern that had lost its will to go on. My indoor chilli plant, which had small green chillis growing from it when we left, now has lots of bright red beauties hanging from it.
We partially emptied our bags, and it wasn't long before the pristine house came to look as if a bomb had hit it. I put the boiler on for a while then had a bath, then decided that in order to stay awake until a reasonable hour this evening (and hence bring our body clocks back in sync) we should have a short nap, maybe until one. When the alarm went off, I turned it off and we slept on until five.
I blearily unpacked the rest of the bags, and the house came to resemble some kind of landfill facility. Delighted with my progress, I went out to meet Ajay, for a crafty pint and to get Debbie's house keys back (they were not separated from her work keys, which she needed for tomorrow). The crafty pint turned into five, which fooled my body clock back into BST in double-quick time.
The End.
