Starting to get Excited

About 4ish in the afternoon

I'm sat at work typing this; there's little else to do because I've wound down all my work. Out-of-office email replies are set up, mailing list subscriptions suspended.

Since the last update, we've been beavering away at preparations... to tell the truth, Debbie's done most of it. I'm packed, so I'm told -- but I haven't yet seen the suitcase.

On Wednesday we selected 25 CDs to take, which I've put in a little CD wallet borrowed from work. A stack of 25 CDs in their jewel cases looks like a lot. A wallet of 25 CDs is quite compact. If I was less lazy I would list them for you. The truck won't have a CD player, we know this. We're banking on it having a cassette player, and we have one of those gadgets that pretends to be a cassette so you can amplify a signal through a cassette player. We'll buy a CD Walkman early on; they'll be much cheaper in the US than here.

There was a bit of a panic the other day, when I couldn't find my 128M memory card for the camera. I decided that the chances of my finding it in time were low (small things!), so I ordered a new one, which arrived yesterday. That's the same day that Debbie stumbled on the old one while tidying up. Never mind, a spare can't be a bad thing.

We have to set off for the airport early tomorrow, so we formulated a plan. The reasoning goes like this:

  • In order to get up early, we must go to bed early
  • In order to go to bed early, we must be tired early
  • Therefore we must tire ourselves out on Thursday night
  • Hence I went to Club Mirage and danced to cheesy music until the early hours
  • (Debbie missed out the club, but come to the pub, and stayed up afterwards for a while)

It seems to have worked. I'm pretty drowsy now. I'll have no problem going to bed at 10 (maybe watching Tim get evicted from Big Brother in bed). The nagging headache I nursed until mid afternoon was a small price to pay.

8:30 PM
